Cookie Carrier 🍪
During my semester at home, I enjoyed going on picnics with my friends. A common food we shared was cookies!
For my studio project creating cardboard carriers, I sought to answer the question: How could we carry cookies protectively, but also share them efficiently with our loved ones?

Physical Prototyping
I wanted to create a design that is compact for transporting the cookies, but can be extended to a display state. This is so that it is easier to reach for the cookies when laid out on a table.
I went through rounds of physical models and testing to ensure best size, movement, and ergonomics.
Model 1:
Basic idea development, experiment with accordion-style folds
The basic idea is there, but the mechanism is not as refined as I had in mind. It was also awkward to hold due to its size
Model 2:
Functional model, demonstrates basic interaction
This is where I changed the accordion design to fit better into the overall form. However, each fold is too big, so it was hard to actually get the cookies out.
Model 3 & 4:
Understanding size and refining handle details for better comfort
I increased the handle size and lowered the accordion walls. I still needed to work on bringing the handles closer together for a better grip.
Demonstration of final working prototype
This is the final prototype with a refined handle design and locking tabs to keep the carrier closed while transporting.
